This year I made a resolution to become a more responsible consumer. I’ve slowed down and taken the time to be smarter about the things I bring into my home. I’m not buying products with harmful chemicals that are unsustainably produced and toxic to both my family and the Earth. While I’m committed to the process, it’s really come as a mixed bag. I’ve found some great products that I love, and others that have felt like a waste of money. One of my big wins has been the Pura D’Or Cleansing Conditioner.
I have long, always tangled, torture to brush, hair. My hair grows really fast and I’m not great about having it regularly cut so it’s often long and unruly. With most conditioners I have to use twice the recommended amount to get the tangles out and then because I put so much in, my hair gets weighed down and greasy. Not ideal.
This conditioner is magic though. I use one pump, and as I work it in I can feel my hair sort of transform. All of a sudden my fingers begin to glide through the strands. I leave it in for two minutes and then rinse it out. I can even tell a difference in my hair the next day, it’s just easier to brush! Woo!
It has a strong scent, which I could see not everyone loving. But to me it smells like manageable hair…haha! So I pretty much love it. 🙂 Something else to consider, it’s expensive. I’m still on my first bottle so I’m not sure how long it’ll last me. But before this conditioner I tried a few others that did nothing for my hair. So at that point I was ready to pay a premium. I read SO MANY reviews of natural hair conditioners searching for the ONE and things were not looking good. When my rabbit trail led me to this bottle and I started reading the reviews I swear I could hear the hallelujah chorus playing in the background. I’m glad I bit the bullet and gave it a try. It’s exactly what I was looking for. Natural and Safe Ingredients – Check! Lightweight and Detangling – Check!
This conditioner does not contain any sulfates, parabens, phthalates, mineral oil, formaldehyde, petrolatum, propylene glycol or chlorine. (Isn’t it crazy that you even have to say this stuff??)
This conditioner does have 4 ingredients that rate over a 2 in EWG’s scale. They all have been rated at a 3. They are: BEHENTRIMONIUM CHLORIDE, POTASSIUM SORBATE, SODIUM BENZOATE, SODIUM HYDROXIDE.
