The concept of a Capsule Wardrobe is really appealing to me. You follow a checklist of clothing items to cover your bases and give your child about 2 weeks worth of clothing. You buy just what you need in coordinating colors. It saves money and time since all the clothes match and work together! Eliminating those random, unmatchable items and the urge to be constantly shopping for “one more” item that my daughter’s wardrobe “needs.” I’m a minimalist in-training and this idea seems to check all my minimalistic boxes! And, at the end of the day, I’d rather spend our family’s money on memorable experiences then on an ever-growing closet full of things.
Here’s my Winter Capsule Closet Checklist.
I most of my shopping at the same time. I chose Children’s Place to do my shopping. The fit of their clothes are really complimentary to Penny’s shape and they have frequent sales so I can get pretty good prices. When I first thought about choosing colors I gravitated towards red, navy and mustard. After shopping for a bit, to my surprise I was filling up my cart with black, white and dusty rose pink. So I just went with it!
NOTE: I already have a few pieces from a Just Between Friends sale a few weeks ago, they’re in the same color family and help to fill in the gaps. Two of the pieces are a heavy winter coat and a dress coat, just incase you notice those pieces missing!
Here’s what I ended up with:
